Getting credit

Provincial sport organizations are responsible for issuing verification letters to student athletes who have: Met the requirements of an approved athlete program.

Team BC athletes who compete at the Canada Games will be sent a verification letter by the BC Games Society shortly after the completion of the games.

Student responsibility

  • Student athletes are required to contact the appropriate provincial sport organization to confirm involvement in an approved athlete program and to request a verification letter be sent to them
  • Athletes receiving Sport Canada Athlete Assistance need to contact their National Sport Organization to request a verification letter
  • Students are responsible for submitting the letter of verification of participation for External Sport Credentials to their high school counsellor
  • Students who earn External Sport Credentials prior to entering grade 10 need to file this documentation and present it once they have entered Grade 10 and are earning graduation credits)

Canoe Kayak BC Recognized Athlete Credentials

Regardless of Athlete level, all students seeking credentials are required to complete the following:

  • Keep a training diary
  • Have a training plan
  • Train a minimum of 100 hours per year

Kamloops Sports Council Athletic Awards

ATHLETIC AWARDS

In 1990 the Kamloops Sports Council held their first official meeting; the ground work began for a unified sport advocacy group to promote communication, development, education and participation of sport in the greater Kamloops area. The Athletic Awards have been awarded annually since 1990 in conjunction with the Kamloops Sports Hall of Fame Banquet.

Nominees will be judged only on their performance in the last calendar year (January - December). Self-nominations are welcome and encouraged.

CRITERIA

To qualify for the Annual Athletic Awards, any nominee, able-bodied or with a disability, who has made a significant contribution to sport in the past calendar year, is eligible. Nominees will be judged on their performance in the past calendar year.

All nominees must have resided in Kamloops in the calendar year of nomination OR be a member is good standing with a recognized Kamloops Club/Association.
