Using great teamwork and communication, your group will learn to propel the boat forward in the water as a group in a safe and fun group atmosphere. Dragon boat races are a great team building exercise and challenge. Maybe even challenge your competitors to a race?

Indigenous Programs

Weyt-kp! KCKC has a variety of canoes and kayaks to customize programs for Indigenous sports teams interested in cross-training or families looking for a special event.  Athletes interested in canoe/kayak for the North American Indigenous Games can train with KCKC too.  We have had two Metis athletes go to NAIG and achieve success in 2017!

Intro Sprint/Flatwater

"Learn to Paddle" programs are offered at various times in the spring and summer.  Like swimming lessons, there is a progression of programs in canoe/kayak.  If you don't follow the progression there is always a space for you to learn and a boat that will suit your ability level at any age.

  1. Field Trip
  2. Canoe Kids Summer Camp
  3. Learn To Paddle Sprint/Flatwater (Spring 2 nights/week)
  4. Learn To Paddle Sprint/Flatwater (Summer week)
  5. Next Steps...Sprint/Flatwater Competitive Team

Sprint/Flatwater Competitive Team

Youth often transition from the Intro Sprint/Flatwater program OR spending time at one or two CanoeKids Summer Camps.  The competitive team enjoys travel opportunities to regattas primarily in the lower mainland for youth ages 14 and under.  As athletes approach 15 and older they dream big and set their sights on events such as Ted Houk in Seattle, National Team Trials and Canadian Nationals.

(Please see the Development categories on the Sprint/Flatwater page)

KCKC is a community of paddlers and there is something for everyone.  Please ask us about opportunities to "Paddle With Us".
