Canoe Kids Summer CampsKCKC offers week long day camps for kids ages 7 to 14 to learn to paddle our various fleet of boats amongst the gorgeous beauty of Shumway Lake. Our counsellors lead hikes, cooperative games and kids get to experience a variety of paddle sports on the water. Youth will be taught to paddle using the Canoe Kids curriculum and have the opportunity to progress through three levels of skills over the years. FUNdamentals camp extensions are also available from 3-5:30pm during a variety of weeks. Opportunities include time to experience more flatwater sprint boats or become more proficient with skills learned during the day in a smaller setting. Developing physical literacy skills in a FUN environment is the purpose of this group without the pressure of training to compete. (This might be your first or second experience) |
Dragon Boat PaddlingFor a group of friends or co-workers looking to build teamwork and friendship in an evening together on the the water. Using great teamwork and communication, your group will learn to propel the boat forward in the water as a group in a safe and fun group atmosphere. Dragon boat races are a great team building exercise and challenge. Maybe even challenge your competitors to a race? Sports teams who are in the off season may also consider bringing their team for a unique experience over a few days. Indigenous ProgramsWeyt-kp! KCKC has a variety of canoes and kayaks to customize programs for Indigenous sports teams interested in cross-training or families looking for a special event. Athletes interested in canoe/kayak for the North American Indigenous Games can train with KCKC too. We have had two Metis athletes go to NAIG and achieve success in 2019! |
Competitive ProgramsYouth often transition from the Intro Sprint/Flatwater program OR spending time at one or two CanoeKids Summer Camps. The competitive team enjoys travel opportunities to regattas primarily in the lower mainland for youth ages 14 and under. As athletes approach 15 and older they dream big and set their sights on events such as Ted Houk in Seattle, National Team Trials and Canadian Nationals. Parents/AdultsKCKC is a community of paddlers and there is something for everyone. Please ask us about opportunities to "Paddle With Us". EMAIL: Info@kamloopscanoeandkayakclub.ca Coaches build these programs to meet the needs of the participants. Each group may look and feel different depending on level of confidence and skills participants would like to develop. Adult and Family programs are flexible and fun. Canoes, Kayaks, SUP, Dragon Boat and Voyageur Canoe may all be explored during the lessons to ensure a variety of skills are developed over the 4 or 5 sessions.
